Further your tap dance training, inspire your tap choreography and invigorate your practice. 3 Scholarships up for grabs.

The Grace Inglis Scholarship: $1,000

This Grace Inglis Scholarship, The Grace Inglis Scholarship, facilitated by West Coast Tap, has been donated in the name of Grace Inglis, a woman with a true love for tap dance.  Her family hopes that this scholarship will help further your studies and inspire you to follow your ‘tap dreams’.

Grace Inglis Scholarship criteria: You must be an amateur or semi-professional tap student aged 15-25, not earning more than $5,000 a year through dance. You must be member of the West Coast Tap Dance Collective.

What you will need to apply for the Grace Inglis Scholarship:

  1. Name, address, phone number, and birthdate, plus name and email address of a parent or guardian (if under 18 years of age).

  2. Brief description of your dance training and history (Or dance resume).

  3. Brief description of what you would use the scholarship funds for.

  4. In 1 or 2 paragraphs answer this question: What are your goals in tap and how will this scholarship help you to achieve them?

  5. Letter of reference from a dance teacher.

*Note: scholarship money is to be used for training OUTSIDE of your regular tap classes. It can be used for workshops, master classes or additional training. Scholarship money must be spent by May 25, 2026.

Short-listed applicants will be notified by April 15, 2024 and will be invited to submit a recording of a solo tap performance and attend a virtual interview in May (date TBA). Scholarship winner will be presented at The West Coast Tap Dance Collective’s annual Tap Day celebration on May 26, 2024.


Adult Student Scholarship: $500

This scholarship is intended to support adult, amateur tappers to further their training and continue with a hobby that they enjoy.

Adult tap student scholarship criteria: You must be an amateur adult tap student aged 25+, not currently earning more than $1,000 a year through dance, and never having earned your living as a tap dancer or tap dance teacher. You must be member of the West Coast Tap Dance Collective.


What you will need to apply for the Adult Student Scholarship:

  1. Name, address, email, phone number, and birthdate.

  2. Brief description of your dance training and history.

  3. Brief description of what you would use the scholarship funds for.

  4. Letter of reference from a dance teacher.

  5. In 1 or 2 paragraphs answer this question: What place does tap dance have in your life and how would you use this scholarship?

*Note: scholarship money is to be used for training OUTSIDE of your regular tap classes. It can be used for workshops, master classes or additional training. Scholarship money must be spent by May 25, 2026.

Tap Dance Professional Scholarship:
$500

This scholarship is intended to support a tap dance professional to further their craft and invigorate their practice. 

Tap Dance Professional Scholarship criteria: You must be aged 21+ and currently training, teaching or performing tap dance. You should have at least 3 years experience as a tap dance professional (receiving monetary compensation for performing and/or teaching tap dance) and a passion for sharing the art of tap dance. You must also be a member of the West Coast Tap Dance Collective.


What you will need to apply for the Tap Dance Professional Scholarship:

  1. Name, address, phone number, email address and birthdate.

  2. Current resume.

  3. A letter of reference from someone who knows your work as a tap dance professional.

  4. Details of what you would use the scholarship funds for. (Please include links to websites for courses/performance opportunities).

  5. A paragraph explaining your future goals in tap dance and how this scholarship, and your chosen use of funds, would impact you as an artist or teacher.

*Note: Scholarship funds are to be used to support your tap dance goals. They can be used for training, venue rental, collaborator fees - whatever will be most helpful to you.  Scholarship money must be spent by May 25, 2026.
